The world has never been able to give up the internet since it’s implementation, and as the centuries passed, it’s become integrated into every part of human life. This is true on Earth, especially, since the net has become a public service. It’s proliferated to the point where anyone that has a device that can access the internet can do so. In space, the transmission of data is a little more difficult.
Each station and colony certainly has it’s own internet access, and you can access the web at large, but information is sent and received in bursts. Communicating from star-system to star-system is impossible without the help of Gap Drones. Specialized Gap Drones for transmitting massive amounts of data – in other words, a large portion of updates from almost all accessable sites, when updates are made – make scheduled trips back and forth from system to system, delivering data in waves to all that desire it.
This has reduced internet feeds and communication to the speed of sending a letter, almost, but as of right now there have not been any developments on how to improve this situation.
